Outline

•  The PCM controls the OCV for cylinder deactivation to satisfy the oil pressure demanded by the switchable HLA and make the cylinder deactivation control possible.

Operation

•  The PCM switches the oil passage by driving the OCV for cylinder deactivation during cylinder deactivation control.

Cylinder deactivation is not performed

1.  The OCV for cylinder deactivation diverts the oil passage of the engine oil supplied from the oil pump to the drain side. (does not flow into switchable HLA side)

2.  The engine oil diverted to the drain side returns to the oil pan.

During cylinder deactivation

Note
•  For details on the OCV for cylinder deactivation, refer to the [LUBRICATION SYSTEM]. (See LUBRICATION SYSTEM [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].)

1.  A cylinder deactivation signal is sent to the OCV for cylinder deactivation from the PCM.

2.  The OCV for cylinder deactivation switches the oil passage of the engine oil supplied from the oil pump from the drain side to the switchable HLA side.

3.  Engine oil flow is stopped and the oil pressure is increased by switching the oil passage of the engine oil to the switchable HLA side. (does not flow into drain side)
