DTC P0299:00

Turbocharger underboost condition

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the intake boost pressure using the boost sensor signal. The PCM compares the intake boost pressure of target and actual. If the actual intake air charging pressure is detected as one of the following conditions in comparison to the target air charging pressure, the PCM determines that there is insufficient air charging pressure.
―  Conditions vary depending on the PCM.
•  -40 kPa {-0.41 kgf/cm2, -5.8 psi} lower or more detected for 9 s
•  -50 kPa {-0.51 kgf/cm2, -7.3 psi} lower or more detected for 12 s
Monitoring condition
•  Battery voltage: 10 V or more
•  Gear position: 3GR or more
•  Vehicle speed: 25—127 km/h {16.0—78.9 mph}
•  Intake-air temperature: -7 °C {19 °F}
•  Fuel system loop status is closed loop
Diagnostic support note
•  The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in first drive cycle.
•  PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA (mode2) and snapshot data are available.
•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  VBC control improper operation
―  Guide blade actuator position sensor malfunction
―  VBC solenoid valve stuck close
―  Guide blade actuator stuck
•  Boost sensor improper installation
•  Air leakage in intake-air system
•  Boost sensor malfunction
•  Turbocharger malfunction
•  PCM malfunction
