DTC P0069

MAP sensor and BARO sensor signal plausibility error

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the MAP sensor and BARO sensor signals. If the following conditions are detected, the PCM determines that the MAP sensor and BARO sensor signals have a plausibility error.
―  Difference between MAP and BARO sensors is 15 MPa {153 kgf/cm2, 2176 psi} or more for continuous 10 s
―  Difference between MAP and BARO sensors is 40 MPa {408 kgf/cm2, 5802 psi} or more for continuous 10 s when regenerating diesel particulate filter
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  MAP sensor malfunction
•  BARO sensor (built-into PCM) malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2
VERIFY REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
•  Is P0237, P0238 P2227, P2228 or P2229 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
4
CLASSIFY MALFUNCTION AS MAP SENSOR OR ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE SENSOR MALFUNCTION
•  Connect the M-MDS to DLC.
•  Access BARO and MAP PIDs.
•  Switch the ignition to ON (Engine off).
•  Compare the barometer with each PID.
•  Do the PID indications equal the barometer indication?
Yes
Go to Step 6.
No
If the MAP PID is not equal to the barometer"s indication:
Go to the next step.
If the BARO PID is not equal to the barometer"s indication:
Replace the PCM, then go to Step 6
5
INSPECT MAP SENSOR
•  Is MAP sensor normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace MAP sensor, then go to the next step.
6
VERIFY THAT DTC P0069 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the after repair procedure.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
