COMPRESSION INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) (EURO4 emission level)]

Warning
•  Hot engines can cause severe burns. Be careful not to burn yourself during removal/installation of each component.
•  Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.
•  Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the “Fuel Line Safety Procedure” when servicing the fuel system, and remove the fuel pump relay. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

1.  Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

2.  Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature.

3.  Remove the engine cover.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

5.  Remove the fuel injector electrical connector.

6.  Detach the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler and position it to one side.

7.  Remove the glow plug. (See GLOW PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

8.  Install the SST (303-1052) to the glow plug hole securely.

9.  Connect the SST (49 S010 1A0A, 49 D013 101) to SST (303-1052).

10.  Connect the negative battery cable.

11.  Crank the engine and measure the compression pressure.

12.  Measure the compression pressure for all cylinders.

13.  Remove the SSTs.

14.  Install the glow plug. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

15.  Attach the EGR cooler.

16.  Install the fuel injector electrical connector.

17.  Install the glow plug relay.

18.  Install the engine cover.
