Warning

•  As this procedure involves handling fuel additives, be prepared for fuel additive spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

•  Eye, hand ear protection and protective clothing are required to be worn during any general or removal and installation procedure of fuel additive system components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

•  In case of fuel additive fluid contact with the skin or the eyes, flush immediately with water for a minimum of 15 minutes and seek prompt medical attention. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

•  If fuel additive fluid is swallowed, call a physician immediately. Rinse mouth immediately with water, do not induce vomiting. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury

•  Always provide adequate ventilation when working on the fuel additive system or related components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury

•  Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Caution

•  Make sure the workshop area in which the vehicle is being worked on is as clean and as dust free as possible. Foreign matter from work on clutches, brakes or from machining or welding operations can contaminate the fuel system and may result in later malfunction

•  After completing the filling procedure, make sure the fuel additive refill kit and pipes are stored in a dry and secure area away from dust. Foreign matter from work on clutches, brakes or from machining or welding operations can contaminate the fuel additive fluid.

Note

•  Perform the “AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE REFILL PROCEDURE” after refill the fuel additive to the fuel additive tank. (See AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE REFILL PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) (EURO4 emission level)].)

•  Perform the “AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE SYSTEM PROCEDURE” when replacing/removing/disconnecting the fuel additive tank and/or fuel additive hose (pipe) (See AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE SYSTEM REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) (EURO4 emission level)].)

1.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3.  Remove the rear crossmember bracket. (See REAR STABILIZER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

1	Quick release connector
2	Fuel additive pump unit connector
3	Fuel additive tank (See Fuel additive tank removal note.) (See REAR SHOCK ABSORBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) (See REAR CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

6.  Refill the fuel additive to the fuel additive tank.

7.  Perform the “AFTER REFILL PROCEDURE”. (See AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE REFILL PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) (EURO4 emission level)].)

8.  Perform the “AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE SYSTEM REPAIR PROCEDURE”. (See AFTER FUEL ADDITIVE SYSTEM REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) (EURO4 emission level)].)

Fuel additive tank removal note

Warning

•  Verify that the crossmember is securely supported by a jack. If the rear crossmember falls off, it can cause serious injury or death, and damage to the vehicle.

1.  Support the rear crossmember with the jack and remove the bolt.

2.  Remove the rear crossmember bolts and rear shock absorber lower bolt.

3.  Lower the jack slowly and ensure a sufficient space to remove the fuel additive tank.
