DETECTION CONDITION
•  Instrument cluster detects the unprogrammed key ID number.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Key malfunction
―  No keys have been programmed after replacing instrument cluster.
―  Unprogrammed key is used.
―  Programmed a ninth key.
•  PCM malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS
•  Perform the PID/data monitor inspection using the M-MDS to verify the number of programmed keys.
•  Are eight keys programmed?
Yes
Erase the key ID number.
Program an additional key referring to the immobilizer system-related parts programming, then go to the next step.
No
Program an additional key referring to the immobilizer system-related parts programming, then go to the next step.
Note
•  To start the engine, two or more programmed keys are necessary.

VERIFY PCM MALFUNCTION
•  Switch the ignition to ON (engine off) using the programmed key.
•  Perform the immobilizer system DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Dispose of the malfunctioning key and program a new key if necessary, then go to Step 4.
Note
•  To start the engine, two or more programmed keys are necessary.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Perform the immobilizer system DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
