Car-navigation system does not start operation (Display changes to black.)

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Fuse malfunction

•  Open or short circuit in multi information display (power supply (B+)) wiring harness

•  Open or short circuit in multi information display (power supply (ACC)) wiring harness

•  Open or short circuit in car-navigation unit (integrated multi information display) (GND) wiring harness

•  Open or short circuit in multi information display) (GND) wiring harness

•  Melted or damaged power supply (B+, ACC) related fuse.

•  Car-navigation unit (integrated multi information display) malfunction

•  Poor connection of multi information display connector, terminal damage

Note

•  After inserting the SD card of Navigation Map data, firmly close all of the lids.

•  If the inner lid is not firmly closed, the navigation system will not function.

POSSIBLE CAUSE	• Fuse malfunction • Open or short circuit in multi information display (power supply (B+)) wiring harness • Open or short circuit in multi information display (power supply (ACC)) wiring harness • Open or short circuit in car-navigation unit (integrated multi information display) (GND) wiring harness • Open or short circuit in multi information display) (GND) wiring harness • Melted or damaged power supply (B+, ACC) related fuse. • Car-navigation unit (integrated multi information display) malfunction • Poor connection of multi information display connector, terminal damage Note • After inserting the SD card of Navigation Map data, firmly close all of the lids. • If the inner lid is not firmly closed, the navigation system will not function.

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	• Switch the ignition to ACC. • Does the Functions other than the car-navigation system functions (audio system, drive information system, warning indicators, maintenance monitor) are continually displayed in display 2 screen?	Yes	Go to Step 6.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	• Switch the ignition to off. • Inspect following fuses. ― IG KEY 140 A ― ROOM 15 A ― AUDIO 7.5A • Are fuses normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	If the fuse is melted, inspect the wiring harness for short to ground. Repair or replace the wiring harness, then replace the fuse. Replace with the appropriate standard fuse.
3	• Inspect the connection of the multi information display connectors. • Are the multi information display connectors connected securely?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Securely connect the multi information display.
4	• Disconnect the multi information display connectors. • Are all the pins normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	If the car-navigation unit connector is wrong: • Replace the multi information display. (See MULTI INFORMATION DISPLAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong: • Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
5	• Switch the ignition to ACC. • Measure the following multi information display connector (24-pin) terminals. ― Terminal 1A (+B): B+ ― Terminal 1C (ACC): B+ ― Terminal 1W (GND): below 1.0V • Are voltages normally?	Yes	Replace the multi information display. (See MULTI INFORMATION DISPLAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5		No	Repair or replace malfunctioning wiring harness.
6	• Verify that the inner lid for SD card of the Navigation Map data. • Is the inner lid fully closed?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Close the inner lid firmly.
7	• Switch the ignition to off. • Disconnect the multi information display connector. • Verify continuity between multi information display wiring harness-side connector terminal 2A and body ground. • Is there any continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Repair or replace malfunctioning wiring harness between multi information display terminal 2A and ground point.
8	• Reconnect multi information display connector. • Operate the steering switch to switch the display 2 screen. • Does The display 2 screen switches according to operation of the display switch?	Yes	Replace the multi information display. (See MULTI INFORMATION DISPLAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8		No	Perform the symptom troubleshooting “No.2 System does not control audio by steering switch” procedure. (See NO.2 SYSTEM DOES NOT CONTROL CAR-NAVIGATION SYSTEM BY STEERING SWITCH [CAR-NAVIGATION SYSTEM (INTEGRATED MULTI INFORMATION DISPLAY)].)
