ECM/PCM processor

DETECTION CONDITION
•  PCM internal CPU malfunction.
•  Abnormal voltage applied to PCM ignition switch terminal.
Diagnostic support note
•  This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
•  MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
•  DTCs are stored in PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Voltage of 1.0 V or more is applied to PCM ignition switch terminal (PCM terminal 1AY) even though ignition switch is off.
•  PCM internal CPU malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform the repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY VOLTAGE AROUND PCM IGNITION SWITCH
•  When the ignition switch is off, verify that the voltage around the PCM ignition switch terminal (PCM terminal 1AY) is less than 1.0 V.
Note
•  If the measured value fluctuates above and below 1.0 V, place the measurement position close to the PCM and measure several times.
•  Is the measured voltage less than 1.0 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the power supply line for open or short circuits, and repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF P0606 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start engine.
•  Is same DTC present?
Yes
Replace PCM, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the “After Repair Procedure”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
