CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)]

1. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the under cover.
5. Remove the splash shield.
6. Follow “BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION” before performing any work operations to prevent fuel from spilling from the fuel system. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
7. Disconnect the quick release connector (Type D). (See QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
8. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Camshaft Position Sensor Installation Note
1. Turn the engine until one of the three webs on the back of the camshaft pulley is in line with the CMP sensor hole in the engine timing belt back plate.

2. Install the CMP sensor until the tip of the sensor touches the back of the camshaft pulley.
