Slip control malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION
•  Revolution ratio of forward clutch drum to secondary gear is 1.09 or more, or 0.91 or less when the following conditions are met.
―  3GR
―  TCC slip control: On
•  Revolution ratio of forward clutch drum to secondary gear is 0.817 or more, or 0.636 or less when the following conditions are met.
―  4GR or 5GR
―  TCC slip control: On
Diagnostic support note:
•  This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
•  The MIL does not illuminates if the TCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the TCM.
•  A PENDING CODE is not available.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
•  The AT warning light illuminates.
•  DTCs are stored in the TCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Deteriorated ATF
•  ATF level low
•  Solenoid valve malfunction
―  Pressure control solenoid A
―  Shift solenoid B
―  Shift solenoid C
―  Shift solenoid D
―  Shift solenoid E
•  Line pressure low
•  Oil pump malfunction
•  Forward clutch slipping
•  2-4 brake band slipping
•  3-4 clutch slipping
•  Primary control valve body malfunction
•  TCM malfunction

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then to the ON position.
•  Verify the DTCs recorded in the TCM
•  Are any DTCs other than P0744 recorded?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT ATF CONDITION
•  Inspect the ATF condition.
•  Is it normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the ATF, then go to Step 9.

INSPECT ATF LEVEL
•  Inspect the ATF level.
•  Is it normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Add ATF to the specified level, then go to Step 9

INSPECT SOLENOID VALVE
•  Inspect the following solenoid valves:
―  Pressure control solenoid A
―  Shift solenoid B
―  Shift solenoid C
―  Shift solenoid D
―  Shift solenoid E
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the solenoid valve, then go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT LINE PRESSURE
•  Perform the “Line Pressures Test”.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to test result, then go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT STALL SPEED
•  Perform the “Stall Test”.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to test result, then go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT PRIMARY CONTROL VALVE BODY
•  Remove the primary control valve body.
•  Disassemble the primary control valve body.
•  Inspect the following parts:
―  Shift valve
―  Return spring
―  Hydraulic passage
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to inspection result, then go to next step.
No
Replace the transaxle, then go to the next step.
9
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved:
1.  Start the engine.
2.  Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
3.  Drive the vehicle under the following conditions for 1 s or more.
―  3GR
―  Accelerator pedal position: 15% or less
―  Vehicle speed: 30 km/h {19 mph} or more
4.  Drive the vehicle under the following conditions for 1 s or more.
―  4GR
―  Accelerator pedal position: 15% or less
―  Vehicle speed: 39 km/h {24 mph} or more
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the TCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
10
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the “After Repair Procedure”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
