Purpose, Function

• The common rail stores high pressure fuel from the supply pump and distributes it to the fuel injectors.

Construction

• The common rail is located on the intake manifold.

• The common rail has an integrated fuel pressure relief valve and fuel pressure sensor.

Fuel pressure relief valve

• The fuel pressure relief valve discharges fuel and decreases fuel pressure to control the pressure in the common rail at the target value. For details on the fuel pressure relief valve, refer to the FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE. (See FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

Fuel pressure sensor
