WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

Purpose/Function
• The wrench warning light turns on to alert the user of the following conditions.

― Preset maintenance period approaches
― Engine oil deterioration
― Engine oil level malfunction (European specs.)
• The wrench indicator light flashes to alert the driver that draining of the sedimentor is required.
Construction
• The wrench indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.
• For vehicles with center display, a warning message in the center display is displayed when the wrench indicator light is illuminated or flashes. For the message content and verification method, refer to the CENTER DISPLAY. (See
CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY].)
Operation
• The wrench indicator light illumination conditions are as follows:

― Ignition switch ON (turns off after several second)
― When the engine oil level is at one of the following positions on the dipstick (European specs.)

• Engine oil level is around X mark on dipstick or exceeds X mark
• Engine oil level is around MIN mark on dipstick or lower than MIN mark
Wrench indicator light flashing conditions

― Water level in sedimentor is certain level or more
1. If the PCM detects engine oil deterioration or an excess engine oil level, it sends (1) the wrench indicator light request signal to the instrument cluster.
2. The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) based on the wrench indicator light illumination request signal.
3. When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the wrench indicator light is established and the wrench indicator light turns on (3).
