DESCRIPTION
•  M position indicator light in instrument cluster does not illuminate in M position or M position indicator light in instrument cluster in D position with the ignition at ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  M position switch (built-in selector lever component), instrument cluster, or related wiring harness malfunction
Note
•  Before following troubleshooting steps, make sure that Automatic Transaxle On-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [PCM (FN4A-EL)].) (See BASIC INSPECTION [FN4A-EL].)

Inspect the AT_MAN_M_SW PID value using the M-MDS.
Is the PID value normal?
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
Go to the next step.

Inspect the M position switch.
Is the M position switch normal?
Yes
Inspect the wiring harness between instrument cluster terminal H and selector lever component terminal E.
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection results.
No
Replace the selector lever component.

Retrieve the instrument cluster DTC using the M-MDS.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Verify the M position indicator light using the M-MDS simulation function WL+IL.
Replace the instrument cluster, if necessary.

•  Verify the test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.6].)
