Description

Brake switch malfunction

Detection condition
•  The radar unit detects that the brake switch signal and the brake fluid pressure value are incompatible.
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits the mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system control
•  Inhibits the smart brake support (SBS) system control
•  Inhibits the distance recognition support system (DRSS) control
Possible cause
•  Brake switch malfunction
•  DTCs are stored in the PCM.
―  Malfunction in circuit between brake switch and PCM
―  PCM malfunction
•  DTCs are stored in the ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM.
―  ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM malfunction
•  Radar unit malfunction

INSPECT BRAKE SWITCH
•  Inspect the brake switch.
•  Is it brake switch normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the brake switch, then go to the Step 4.

VERIFY PCM DTCs
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY ABS HU/CM OR DSC HU/CM DTCs
•  Retrieve the ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the radar unit using the M-MDS.
•  Drive the vehicle at 40 km/h {25 mph} or more for 3 min or more.
•  Retrieve the radar unit DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the radar unit.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
