Glow plug control circuit open

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the glow plug control signal. If there is a open circuit in the glow plug control circuit, the PCM determines that there is a malfunction in the glow plug control circuit.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Glow plug control module malfunction
•  Glow plug malfunction
•  Connector or terminal malfunction
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal A and PCM terminal 3AG
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal C and PCM terminal 2AR
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal D and glow plug terminal D
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal F and glow plug terminal C
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal G and glow plug terminal B
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between glow plug control module terminal I and glow plug terminal A
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•   Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
•   If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION
•  Disconnect the glow plug control module connector.
•  Switch the ignition to ON (engine off).
•  Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE
•  Inspect the glow plug control module.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the glow plug control module, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out terminals, corrosion).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the suspected terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals:
―  glow plug control module terminal B and ground
―  glow plug control module terminal D and glow plug terminal D
―  glow plug control module terminal F and glow plug terminal C
―  glow plug control module terminal G and glow plug terminal B
―  glow plug control module terminal I and glow plug terminal A
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a open circuit, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG
•  Inspect the glow plug and glow plug code.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the glow plug and/or glow plug code, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the PCM connector.
•  Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out terminals, corrosion).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the suspected terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals:
―  Glow plug control module terminal A and PCM terminal 3AG.
―  Glow plug control module terminal C and PCM terminal 2AR.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a short to ground, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
10
VERIFY THAT DTC P0670:00 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the after repair procedure.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
