DTC P0691:00

DTC P0691:13

Cooling fan control circuit low

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the cooling fan control signal circuit at PCM terminal 1AI. If the PCM detects that short to ground or open circuit in cooling fan control signal circuit, the PCM determines that there is a cooling fan control circuit problem.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Fan control module connector or terminal malfunction
•  PCM connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground in the wiring harness between fan control module terminal 1C and PCM terminal 1AI
•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between fan control module terminal 1C and PCM terminal 1AI
•  Fan control module malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT COOLING FAN CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
•  Fan control module and PCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between fan control module terminal 1C (wiring harness-side) and ground.
•  Is there any continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.
6
INSPECT COOLING FAN CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Fan control module and PCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between fan control module terminal 1C (wiring harness-side) and PCM terminal 1AI.
•  Is there any continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to the next step.
No
Replace the cooling fan component, then go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT DTC P0691:00, P0691:13 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
