Warning
•  Vaporization of fuel in the fuel tank could occur depending on the temperature causing the pressure to increase.
•  If fuel system related servicing is performed under conditions of high pressure in the fuel tank, the ignition of highly flammable fuel sprayed under high pressure could cause serious injury or death, and damage to facilities and equipment. Fuel can also irritate the skin and eyes.
•  To prevent accidents, always loosen the fuel-filler cap to reduce pressure in the fuel tank before performing servicing on the fuel system.
Caution
•  If the negative battery cable is disconnected during the purge cycle of the water heater unit, the gas in the unit may not be properly scavenged, causing white smoke (unburnt gas) to emit from the exhaust pipe. Before disconnecting the negative battery cable, verify that the water heater unit is not operating (no blower fan operation noise).

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

2.  Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER NO.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR-CD 2.2].)

4.  Remove the heater silencer.
