Purpose/Function

•  The brake system/ABS warning light is built into the instrument cluster. If a malfunction is detected in the system with the parking brake released, the warning light illuminates to notify the driver.

Construction/Operation

•  When the ABS system and CAN lines are functioning normally, the brake system/ABS warning light illuminates when the ignition is switched ON to check for a burned-out bulb, and then turns off after approx. 3 s. At this time, while the parking brake is activated, the brake system warning light remains illuminated, however, it turns off after the parking brake is released.
•  The brake system/ABS warning light illuminates during a system malfunction, and the control is as follows:
ABS warning light illuminated:
―  ABS control disabled.
ABS warning light and brake system warning light illuminated:
―  ABS and EBD controls disabled.
•  For vehicles with center display, a warning message in the center display is displayed when the ABS warning light is turned on. For the message content and verification method, refer to the CENTER DISPLAY. (See CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY].)
•  For vehicles with center display, a warning message in the center display is displayed when the brake system warning light is turned on. For the message content and verification method, refer to the CENTER DISPLAY. (See CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY].)
•  For instrument cluster type B, a warning message in the multi-information display is displayed simultaneously when the ABS warning light is illuminated. For the message content, refer to the MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY. (See MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY.)
•  For instrument cluster type B, a warning message in the multi-information display is displayed simultaneously when the brake system warning light is illuminated. For the message content, refer to the MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY. (See MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY.)
