Diagnostic Procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
CONFIRM HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM DTC
•  Retrieve the headlight auto leveling system DTCs.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage between auto leveling control module terminal H and GND.
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace for open circuit between the ignition switch and auto leveling control module terminal H.
3
INSPECT AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE GND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the auto leveling control module connector.
•  Verify that continuity between auto leveling control module terminal F and GND.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Connector the auto leveling control module connector, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT GND POINT
•  Verify that the GND point for auto leveling control module.
•  Is there loose or poor connection at GND point?
Yes
Retighten the GND point.
No
Repair or replace for open circuit between auto leveling control module terminal F and GND.
5
INSPECT IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR ELSEWHERE
•  Turn on and off all the indicator lights and warning lights in the instrument cluster using the M-MDS simulation function WL+IL.
•  Does the auto leveling warning light turn on and off according to simulation function?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.
6
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS NO VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL OR ELSEWHERE
•  Verify that the speedometer indication.
•  Does the speedometer indicate properly?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Perform the instrument cluster symptom troubleshooting “No.7 Speedometer indication is defective” procedure.
7
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAN COMMUNICATION OR AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE
•  Inspect the DTC for the instrument cluster ON-BOARD DIACNOSTIC SYSTEM.
•  Have any CAN communication related DTCs been recorded in memory?
Yes
Go to the appropriate DTC inspection.
No
Replace the auto leveling control module.
