NOx SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2]

NOx Sensor No.1

Warning
•  A hot engine and exhaust system can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.
Caution
•  Do not disconnect the connector between the NOx sensor control module and NOx sensor. Otherwise, it could adversely affect the NOx sensor control module.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the floor under cover No.1. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the insulator and brace bar. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

4.  Disconnect the connector shown in the figure.

5.  Remove the bolts shown in the figure.

6.  Suspend module bracket using a rope as shown in the figure.

7.  Remove the nut shown in the figure.

8.  Cut the bands shown in the figure. (See Band installation note.)

9.  Disconnect the connector shown in the figure.

10.  Remove the NOx sensor control module No.1 from the module bracket. (See NOx sensor control module removal note.)

11.  Remove the NOx sensor No.1 using the SST.

12.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

13.  Perform compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration. (See COMPULSORY DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER REGENERATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)


NOx sensor control module removal note

1.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure.

2.  While moving the tab of the bracket in the direction of arrow (1), move the flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the bracket tabs from the NOx sensor control module.

3.  Remove the NOx sensor control module.


Band installation note

1.  Install bands as shown in the figure.

•  Insulator
•  Brace bar
•  Tunnel member

4.  Disconnect the connector shown in the figure.

5.  Remove the bolts shown in the figure.

6.  Suspend module bracket using a rope as shown in the figure.

7.  Remove the nuts shown in the figure.

8.  Cut the bands and clip band shown in the figure. (See Band installation note.)

9.  Remove the NOx sensor control module No.2 from the module bracket. (See NOx sensor control module removal note.)

10.  Disconnect the connector shown in the figure.

11.  Remove the NOx sensor No.2 using the SST.

12.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
