DETECTION CONDITION
|
• Voltage of 17.5 V or more detected by EPS control module internal battery voltage observation.
|
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
|
• Refer to “Fail-safe Function Table”. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].)
|
POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• Generator malfunction
• Poor connection at connectors
• EPS control module malfunction
|

INSPECT GENERATOR
• Inspect the generator and drive belt.
• Are the generator and drive belt normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the generator and/or drive belt, then go to the Step 3.

INSPECT WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY POOR CONNECTION OF EPS CONTROL MODULE OR PIN DEFORMATION
• Switch the ignition off.
• Inspect connection of the EPS control module and wiring harness.
• Disconnect the EPS control module connector.
• Inspect whether malfunction is caused by poor connection of EPS control module or pin deformation.
• Are the connector connection, connector pins, and wiring harness normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the faulty connector wiring harness, then go to the next step.

|
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EPS control module.
• Using the M-MDS, perform the EPS control module DTC inspection.
• Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the EPS control module.
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT
• Are any DTCs present?
|
Yes
|
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
|
No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
