REAR SEAT WARMER UNIT INSPECTION

Simple Inspection

1.  Place a cooling agent on the seat cushion (thermistor).

2.  Operate the seat warmer switch to turn on the seat warmer.

3.  Touch the seat cushion and the seat back to verify a temperature increase.

4.  If a temperature increase cannot be verified, go to the resistance inspection. (See Resistance Inspection.)


Resistance Inspection


LH-Side

Seat cushion
1.  Switch the ignition to off.
2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3.  Disconnect the rear seat warmer unit (LH) connector.
4.  Inspect for continuity between the rear seat warmer unit (LH) connector terminal A—B.

―  If not as indicated in the table, replace the rear seat cushion pad. (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5.  Measure the resistance between the rear seat warmer unit (LH) connector terminals C and D, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

―  If the thermistor characteristic is not as shown in the graph, replace the rear seat cushion pad. (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Seat back
1.  Switch the ignition to off.
2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3.  Disconnect the left-side rear seat warmer unit connector.
4.  Inspect for continuity between the left-side rear seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A—B.

―  If not as indicated in the table, replace the rear seat back pad. (See REAR SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)


RH-Side

Seat cushion
1.  Switch the ignition to off.
2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3.  Disconnect the rear seat warmer unit (RH) connector.
4.  Inspect for continuity between the rear seat warmer unit (RH) connector terminal G—H.

5.  Measure the resistance between the rear seat warmer unit (RH) connector terminals E and F, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

Seat back
1.  Switch the ignition to off.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the right-side seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A—B.
