EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Discharge the refrigerant from the system. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

Caution

• If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

3. Disconnect the cooler hose (Lo) (L.H.D.: L3, L8, LF, L3 Turbo) or cooler pipe No.4 (L.H.D.: MZR-CD (RF Turbo), R.H.D.: L3, L8, LF, L3 Turbo) or cooler pipe No.5 (R.H.D.: MZR-CD (RF Turbo)) and cooler pipe No.3. (See REFRIGERANT LINES REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF, L3, L3 Turbo].) (See REFRIGERANT LINES REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD (RF Turbo)].)

4. Remove the passenger-side air bag module. (See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5. Remove the duct (1).

6. Remove the air mix actuator. (R.H.D. Full-auto air conditioner)

7. Remove the adhesive polyurethane (1). (See Adhesive polyurethane (1) Assembly Note.)

Caution

• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.

8. Remove the one seal plate. (R.H.D.)

9. Remove the one bolt and shift the outlet pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

10. Remove the two bolts.

11. Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

12. Remove the screws and plate.

13. Remove the adhesive polyurethane (2). (See Adhesive polyurethane (2) Assembly Note.)

Caution

• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.

14. Remove the adhesive polyurethane (3). (See Adhesive polyurethane (3) Assembly Note.)

Caution

• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.

15. Remove the adhesive polyurethane (4). (See Adhesive polyurethane (4) Assembly Note.)

16. Install in the reverse order of removal.

17. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)
