IGNITION COIL INSPECTION [LF, L3]

Primary Coil Winding
1. Remove the ignition coil. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF, L3].)
2. Measure the resistance between the following terminals using an ohmmeter.

• A and B, B and C
-
- If not specified, replace the ignition coil.

Ignition coil primary coil resistance
-
0.49-0.57 ohms [20 °C {68 °F}]
Secondary Coil Winding
1. Remove the ignition coil. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [LF, L3].)
2. Measure the resistance between the following lead holes using an ohmmeter.

• 1 and 4
-
• 2 and 3
-
- If not specified, replace the ignition coil.

Ignition coil secondary coil resistance
-
9.5-11.1 kilohms [20 °C {68 °F}]
Insulation Resistance of Case
1. Disconnect the high-tension lead.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
3. Measure the insulation resistance between the following terminals and ignition coil case using an ohmmeter.

• Terminal B and ignition coil case.
-
- If not specified, replace the ignition coil.

Ignition coil insulation resistance of case

Above 10 Megohms [20 °C {68 °F}]
