ECT sensor system inspection |

POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• ECT sensor malfunction
• PCM malfunction
• Open or short circuit in wiring harnesses between ECT sensor connector and PCM connector
• Open circuit in wiring harness between A/C amplifier connector terminal 2O and PCM connector terminal 1AN
• Short to ground in wiring harness between A/C amplifier connector terminal 2O and PCM connector terminal 1AN

VERIFY THAT THE DTC OF THE PCM
• Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
• Verify that the DTC of the PCM.
(See PCM INSPECTION [13B-MSP].)
• Is displayed P0117 or P0118?

Yes
|
Perform troubleshooting according to the corresponding DTC inspection.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT ECT SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Disconnect the A/C amplifier connector (16-pin) and the PCM connector (30-pin).
• Is there an open circuit in the wiring harness between A/C amplifier connector (16-pin) terminal 2O and PCM connector terminal 1AN?

Yes
|
Repair the wiring harness.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT ECT SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Is there a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness between A/C amplifier connector (16-pin) terminal 2O and PCM connector terminal 1AN?
|
Yes
|
Repair the wiring harness.
|
No
|
The system is normal at present. (Clear the past malfunction from memory.)
