System Inspection

1.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2.  Verify that the O/D OFF indicator light is not illuminated.

3.  Depress the O/D OFF switch and verify that the O/D OFF indicator light illuminates.

•  If there is any malfunction, inspect the terminal voltage of the O/D OFF switch. (See Voltage Inspection.)

Voltage Inspection

1.  Remove the upper panel from the floor console. (See FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

3.  Measure the voltage when the O/D OFF switch is cycled.

•  If there is any malfunction, inspect for continuity at the O/D OFF switch. (See Continuity Inspection.)

4.  Install the upper panel to the floor console. (See FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Continuity Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove the upper panel from the floor console. (See FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Disconnect the selector lever connector.

4.  Measure the continuity between terminals when the O/D OFF switch is cycled.

•  If the switch is normal, inspect the wiring harness. (O/D OFF switch—PCM, O/D OFF switch—Body ground)

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever. (See SELECTOR LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Connect the selector lever connector.

6.  Install the upper panel to the floor console. (See FLOOR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Connect the negative battery cable.
