POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Malfunction in the wiper and washer switch
•  Malfunction in the windshield washer motor
•  Malfunction in the related wiring harness

Diagnostic Procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the wiper and washer switch connector.
Inspect the wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.)
Is the wiper and washer switch normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the wiper and washer switch.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Connect the wiper and washer switch connector.
Disconnect the windshield washer motor connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
While pressing the wiper and washer switch, measure the voltage at windshield washer motor terminal B.
Is the voltage more than 10 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Measure the resistance between windshield washer motor terminal A and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Replace the windshield washer motor. (See WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
