COOLING FAN CONTROL MODULE CONSTRUCTION/OPERATION [L3]

BUE011215025N01

Construction

• The cooling fan control module has been installed to the radiator cowling.

Operation

• The fan control module drives each fan motor based on the cooling fan control signal sent from the PCM. (See ELECTRICAL FAN CONTROL OPERATION [L3 R.H.D.])
• The fan control module has a power supply function for driving each of the fan motors and the following protection functions:
1. Over-current protection
- If the current value to the fan motor is exceeded, the function sets the value to the set duty value.
- The fan motor is returned to normal control when the current value to the fan motor decreases to the certain value.
2. Over-heating protection
- When the internal temperature of the fan control module is too high, the function sets the value to the set output duty value.
3. Input signal open circuit protection
- If there is an open circuit in the wiring harness between the PCM and fan control module, the function sets the value to the set output duty value.
