DTC P0125

Excessive time to enter closed loop fuel control

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitor ECT sensor signal. If ECT voltage does not reach the expected temperature for specified period, PCM determines that it has taken an excessive amount of time for the engine coolant temperature to reach the temperature necessary to start closed-loop fuel control.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• ECT sensor malfunction
• Low engine coolant level
• Leaking or stuck open the thermostat
• PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on repair order, then go to next step.

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Check for related Service Information availability.
• Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to available Service Information.
• If vehicle is not repaired, go to next step.
No
Go to next step.

INSPECT ECT SENSOR CIRCUIT RERATIVE DTC HAVE BEEN PRESENT
• Start engine.
• Perform "KOEO/KOER self-test"
• Is DTC P0117 and/or P0118 present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to next step.

INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL
• Inspect the engine coolant level.
• Is the engine coolant level fill correct?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Fill the engine coolant to proper level, then go to Step 7.

INSPECT ECT SENSOR
• Inspect ECT sensor.
• Is it okay?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Replace ECT sensor, then go to Step 7.

INSPECT THERMOSTAT
• Inspect the thermostat.
• Is the engine coolant level fill correct?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Fill the engine coolant to proper level, then go to next step.
7
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0125 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear DTC from memory using WDS or equivalent.
• Start engine and warm it up.
• Is same DTC present?
Yes
Replace PCM, then go to next step.
No
Go to next step.

VERIFY AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION
• Perform "AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION".
• Is there any DTC present?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
