CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

Removal

1. Remove the accessory drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

2. Remove the RH front inner fender splash shield.

(1) Remove the screws and the pin-type retainers.

3. Using the SST, secure the crankshaft pulley and loosen the crankshaft pulley lock bolt.

4. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.

5. Using the SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.

1. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant to the end of the keyway slot.

Note

• Seal surfaces must be free of dirt and oil.

2. Using the SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.

Note

• Lubricate the oil seal contact of the crankshaft pulley with engine oil.

3. Install the bolt and the washer and tighten in four stages.

• Stage 1: Tighten to 120 N·m {12.2 kgf·m, 88.5 ft·lbf}

• Stage 2: Loosen 360 degrees.

• Stage 3: Tighten to 50 N·m.

• Stage 4: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

4. Remove the SST.

5. Install the RH front inner splash shield.
