Front Drive Belt Removal/Installation [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

1. Remove the front wheel and tire . (RH)

2. Remove the bolt and front lower splash shield . (RH)

3. Turn the the drive belt tensioner clockwise to release tension to the drive belt.

4. Remove in the reverse order of removal.

1. Remove the plug hole plate.

2. Remove the front wheel and tire . (RH)

3. Remove the bolt and front lower splash shield . (RH)

4. Hold down the belt while cutting as shown in the figure.

Caution

• To prevent the belt from snapping back, always hold down the belt while cutting it. Also, keep your face away from the belt.

• The belt is not reusable.

1. Secure the water pump drive pulley and the belt using a tie wrap.

Note

• It is acceptable to use a tie wrap with a releasable lock.

2. Rotate the crankshaft verifying that the belt engages properly.

Crankshaft rotating angle (reference)

approx. 320°

3. Verify that the belt is installed securely in the pulley groove.

Caution

• If the belt slips while rotating the crankshaft, verify that the belt engages properly by rotating the crankshaft further.

4. Remove the tie wrap.

Caution

• To prevent damage to the belt when removing the tie wrap, cut the tie wrap at the pulley side using a nipper or scissors.

5. Install the bolt and front lower splash shield . (RH)

6. Install the front wheel and tire . (RH)

7. Install the plug hole plate.

2. Remove the bolt and drive belt auto tensioner.

3. Remove in the reverse order of removal.
