IGNITION COIL INSPECTION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

Primary Coil Resistance

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.

2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between ignition coil terminals A-B.

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.

Standard resistance (reference)

0.45-1.15 ohms [25 °C {77 °F}]

Secondary Coil Resistance

1. Remove the ignition coil. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between ignition coil terminal A and coil boot socket.

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.

Standard resistance (reference)

5.0-6.0 kilohms [25 °C {77 °F}]

Insulation Resistance of Case

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.

2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the ignition coil terminal A and the case.

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.

Standard resistance (reference)

10 Megohms [25 °C {77 °F}]
