Primary Coil Resistance

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.

2. Using a tester measure the resistance between ignition coil connector terminals A-B and B-C.

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.
Standard resistance (reference)
0.49-0.57 ohms [20 °C {68 °F}]

Secondary Coil Resistance

1. Remove the ignition coil. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 R.H.D.].)

2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between high-tension lead holes 1-4 and 3-2.

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.
Standard resistance (reference)
9.5-11.1 kilohms [20 °C {68 °F}]

Insulation Resistance of Case

1. Disconnect the high-tension lead.

2. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.

3. Using a tester, measure the ignition coil insulation resistance (between terminal B and the case).

• If it is not within the specification, replace the ignition coil.
Standard resistance (reference)
10 Megohms or more [20 °C {68 °F}]
