THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR INSPECTION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)]

• Before performing the following inspection, make sure to follow the procedure as indicated in the troubleshooting flowchart. (See Troubleshooting Procedure.)

Resistance Inspection

1. Inspect for the following:

• Throttle valve closed status

• Accelerator cable play

2. Disconnect the TP sensor connector.

3. Verify that the resistance between TP sensor terminals 1 and 2 changes moderately corresponding to the throttle valve opening angle.

• If the monitor item status/specification (reference) is not within the specification, even though the resistance is within the specification, perform the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".

• If there is any malfunction, replace the TP sensor. (See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)
