NEEDLE BEARING AND OIL SEAL (SIDE GEAR) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Removal
1. Remove the rear drive shaft. (See REAR DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Remove the needle bearing and the oil seal using the SSTs.
Installation
1. Install the needle bearing using the SSTs.

Note

• Lubricate the new needle bearing with rear axle oil.
2. Lubricate the new oil seal with grease and install the oil seal using the SST.

• Lubricate the new needle bearing with rear axle oil.
3. Install the rear drive shaft. (See REAR DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Caution
-
• Before installing the drive shaft, inspect the inboard CV joint seal journal for rust or nicks/scratches. Polish the seal journal with fine crocus cloth.
