Diagnostic Procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT PUMP MOTOR
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Is the pump motor normal?
Yes
• Replace the ABS CM.
Clear the DTC and perform the self-test.
No
• Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT PUMP MOTOR OPERATION
• Connect the WDS or the equivalent.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Set the ABS simulation function to PMP_MOTOR ON.
• Does the pump motor operate?
Yes
• Clear the DTC from the memory. Inspect the ABS warning light (yellow) while driving the vehicle at more than 32 km/h {20 mph} and no brakes applied until the vehicle exceeds 32 km/h {20 mph}. If the ABS warning light (yellow) illuminates, replace the ABS CM with a new one.
Clear the DTC and perform the self-test.
No
• Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT PUMP MOTOR
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Disconnect the ABS HU/CM connectors.
• Connect a fused 50 A jumper wire between the positive battery terminal and the ABS HU/CM terminal. Connect a jumper wire between the negative battery terminal and the ABS HU/CM terminal.
• Does the pump motor operate?
Yes
• Go to the next step.
No
• Replace the ABS HU/CM and perform the self-test.
4
INSPECT ABS HU/CM TERMINAL B VOLTAGE
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Disconnect the ABS HU/CM connectors.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Measure the resistance between the ABS HU/CM terminal B and ground.
• Is the voltage more than 10 V?
Yes
• Go to the next step.
No
• Repair or replace the wiring harness. Clear the DTC from the memory and perform the self-test.
5
INSPECT ABS HU/CM TERMINAL C AND D FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Measure the resistance between the ABS HU/CM terminal C and ground, and between the ABS HU/CM terminal D and ground.
• Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
• Replace the ABS CM.
Clear the DTC from the memory and perform the self-test.
No
• Repair or replace the wiring harness. Clear the DTC from the memory and perform the self-test.
