• Powertrain control system malfunction
• Internal or external shift linkages malfunction
• Control valve body malfunction
• Oil pump malfunction
• Forward one-way clutch (OWC) component malfunction
• Coasting clutch component malfunction

- Electrical inputs/outputs
- Vehicle wiring harness
- PCM
- 3-2T/CCS

Perform OBD tests
Perform DTC troubleshooting

Internal or external shift linkages
• Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
- Damaged
- Misadjusted
- Misassembled
(See SELECTOR LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Yes
Service if necessary
No
Go to the next step
3
Control valve body
• Do either of the following malfunctions exist?
- 3-4 Shift valve, 1-2 shift valve, or coasting clutch control valve are stuck or damaged
- 3-2 timing/coasting clutch solenoid (3-2T/CCS) is stuck or damaged
Yes
Service if necessary
No
Go to the next step
4
Oil Pump
• Does the following malfunction exist?
- Pump support seal rings #2 and #3 for the coasting clutch circuit are damaged or missing
Yes
Service if necessary
No
Go to the next step
5
Forward OWC component
• Do either of the following malfunctions exist?
- Damaged
- Misassembled
Yes
Service if necessary
No
Go to the next step

Coasting clutch component
• Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
- Misassembled, damaged
- Forward clutch hub seal is damaged
- Piston or seals are damaged
- Inspect the ball for damage or missing
Yes
Service if necessary
No
The malfunction is not in the automatic transaxle
Go to the engine symptom troubleshooting

• Verify the test results.
- If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
- If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
• If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
• If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
