POWER STEERING OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0 L Duratec)]

Removal

1. Support the engine using the SSTs.

(1) Install the SST.

(2) Support the engine using the SSTs.

2. Remove the front wheels and tires.

3. Loosen the power steering pump pulley bolt.

4. Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

5. Remove the bolt and the power steering pump pulley.

6. Disconnect the power steering lower pressure hose.

7. Disconnect the power steering lower pressure hose.

8. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose and position it out of the way.

(1) Remove the power steering pressure line bracket bolt.
(2) Disconnect the connector.
(3) Disconnect the power steering pressure line and position it out of the way.

9. Remove the nut and position the ground cable out of the way.

10. Remove the upper engine insulator bracket.

(1) Remove the nuts.
(2) Remove the bolts.
(3) Remove the upper engine insulator bracket.

11. Remove the engine insulator.

(1) Remove the nut.
(2) Remove the bolts and the engine insulator.

12. Remove the power steering pump bracket.

(1) Remove the pressure line bracket screw.
(2) Remove the six nuts.
(3) Remove five bolts and the power steering pump bracket.

13. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation

1. Position the power steering pump.

2. Install the power steering pump bracket.

(1) Install the five bolts.
(2) Install the six nuts.
(3) Install the pressure line bracket screw.

3. Install the engine insulator.

(1) Install the bolts.
(2) Install the nut.

4. Install the upper engine insulator bracket.

(1) Install the bolts.
(2) Install the nuts.

5. Install the ground cable and nut.

6. Connect the power steering pressure hose.

(1) Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump.
(2) Connect the connector.
(3) Install the power steering pressure line bracket bolt.

7. Connect the power steering low pressure hose.

8. Install the power steering pump pulley and bolt.

9. Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

10. Tighten the power steering pump pulley bolt.

11. Remove the SSTs.

12. Fill the fluid, perform air bleeding, and inspect the system for leakage.
