Disassembly

Note
• The following procedure is for replacement of the O-ring, gasket, oil seal, and shaft component. Replace the oil pump as a single unit if there is a malfunction in the oil pump body, cam ring, side plate, rotor, or other parts of the component.

1. Remove the power steering oil pump. (See POWER STEERING OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0 L Duratec)].)

2. Secure the power steering oil pump to the vise using the SST.

3. Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.

Assembly

1. Assemble in the order indicated in the table.

2. Install the oil seal to the front pump body.

3. Install the shaft component to the front pump body using the SST.

4. Install the snap ring.

5. Secure the power steering pump to the vise using the SST.

6. Apply power steering fluid to a new O-ring and the side plate, and install them to the front pump body.

7. Install the rotor pins.

8. Apply power steering fluid to the cam ring. Install the cam ring with the identification mark facing upward.

9. Apply power steering fluid to the ten vanes. Install the vanes in the rotor with the rounded edges facing outwards.

10. Apply power steering fluid to a new gasket and install.

11. After installing the rear pump body, turn the shaft component to verify that it rotates smoothly.

12. Install the spring control valve to the front pump body.

13. Apply power steering fluid to a new O-ring and install it to the connector.

14. Install the connector to the front pump body.

15. Apply power steering fluid to a new O-ring and install.

16. Install the suction pipe to the front pump body.
