• When a new key cylinder is installed, the door lock cylinder, liftgate key cylinder, and ignition key cylinder should be installed as a set.This will eliminate carrying an extra key which will fit only one lock.If a new key is to be used, the new key code number is stamped on a metal tag attached to the key.

• Individual key cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative cylinder and assembling a new key cylinder using the appropriate lock repair unit.The lock repair unit includes a detailed instruction sheet to assemble the new key cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle.
1. Remove the front outer handle.(See: FRONT OUTER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

• Verify that the window glass is fully closed.
2. Remove front outer handle screw.
3. Remove and discard the door latch screws.
4. Disconnect the door latch connector.

(1) Disengage the clip.
-
(2) Disconnect the connector.

5. Disconnect the inner handle cable.

(1) Disengage the cable conduit.
-
(2) Disconnect the cable.

6. Remove the door latch and outer handle bracket as a single unit.
7. Remove the outer handle rod from the door latch.

(1) Open the clip.

(2) Disconnect the rod.

8. Pull out the outer handle rod.

(1) Remove the screw.
-
(2) Disengage the hook.
-
(3) Pull out the outer handle rod.

9. Remove the door key cylinder.

(1) Disengage the clips.
-
(2) Remove the door key cylinder.

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
