Remove, Install Coolant Pump
Shown On Engine 112:
1 Unclip cover at face end of engine
- Model 220.
2 Remove engine trim panel or cleaner
3.1 Remove viscous fan (1)
- All except Model 220, 208.365/465, 203, 209, 170, 163.174/175.
NOTE: Right-hand thread!
3.2 Remove the fan shroud (3).
NOTE: On models fitted with suction fan, separate the plug connection of the suction fan before removing the fan shroud.
3.3 Remove electric fan
DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
4 Drain coolant at radiator
NOTE:
- Model 163: For draining coolant, remove coolant hose at bottom of radiator or at coolant pump.
- Collect coolant
- Disposal of coolants: observe legal regulations or local wastewater requirements! Refer to Environmental Protection Catalog issued by MBVD/PWU for locations in Germany.
5 Remove poly V-belt (2)
NOTE: Lock tensioning pulley with drift or pin (diameter 5 mm).
6.1 Remove shock absorber (10)
NOTE: Only Model 210, 203, 209, 202, 170, 129 with manual transmission.
6.2 Remove poly V-belt tensioning device
7 Disconnect coolant hoses (4,5)
NOTE: check condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps, replace if necessary.
8 Disconnect coolant hose (6) at oil-water
NOTE: check condition of coolant hose and heat exchanger hose clamp, replace if necessary.
9 Take off belt pulley of coolant pump (7)
10 Remove coolant pump (8)
NOTE: Installation: Replace seal of coolant pump (9).
11 Install in the reverse order
12 Inspect cooling system for leaks.
