CANADIAN DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL) REGULATIONS

This bulletin addresses inquiries regarding the legality of Canadian daytime running lamps (DRL) usage within the United States.

Please be advised that Canadian daytime running lamps do not comply with US Federal FMVSS 108 regulations. Canadian CMVSS 108 regulations require that daytime running lamps stay on with the parking lamps. US regulations stipulate that daytime running lamps must turn off in any headlamp ON position. The Canada daytime running lamps system can therefore not legally be installed or activated on vehicles registered in the United States.
