Task
Partial load operation: when engine is at normal operating temperature ensure, together with lambda control, optimal exhaust emission values and low-cost fuel consumption.
Full load operation: ensure maximum engine torque when throttle valve is fully opened. The injection time is extended accordingly for this purpose.
Design/function
The respective quantity of fuel is metered to the engine in line with the map.

The fuel quantity is dependent on:
- Position of accelerator pedal sensor
- Air mass
- Boost pressure in supercharged engines
- Engine speed
- Engine load
- Coolant temperature
- Intake air temperature
- Charge air temperature in supercharged engines
- Lambda control
- Correction programming with HHT or STAR DIAGNOSIS
