Test prerequisites

- There is no fault code present which can affect the measurement value.
- Check oil level and correct if necessary.
- An oil change is not necessary.

Test procedure

- Remove oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter.
- Connect special tool '103 589 00 91 00' to component 'Catalytic converter' in the vehicle.
- Connect pressure gauge.
- In vehicles with automatic transmission, select transmission mode 'M' or 'C'.
- Drive the vehicle on the road or on the output dynamometer in gear 3 or selector lever position '3'.
- Perform measurement of exhaust back pressure during acceleration in full load mode using a pressure gauge.
- Erase fault memory.

Notes

- Coat thread of special tool with heat-resistant lubricant. ( Number of replacement part : 000 989 76 51 )
- For vehicles with all-wheel drive, drive vehicle on the road in gear 3.
- Check maximum permissible output of dynamometer!
- Inspect components of exhaust system using endoscope. The catalytic converter can be inspected via the threaded connection of the oxygen sensor.

- Wear suitable protective clothing.
- Observe country-specific safety regulations and rules.
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Ensure that the workplace is sufficiently ventilated.
- Never drain or fill fuels above maintenance pits.
- Store drained fuel in suitable, lockable receptacles.
- Immediately remove escaped fuel.

First aid measures

- Clean fuel-soaked skin with water and soap.
- Change fuel-soaked clothing as soon as possible.
- If fuel comes into contact with eyes, immediately flush eyes with water and visit a doctor if necessary.
