SUBJECT: MODELS 124, 126, 201 STEERING LOCK

Inspection of steering locks returned under warranty has revealed that incorrect installation of the lock during repair jobs causes it to jam, rendering it unusable. Therefore, the following guidelines must be observed during removal/installation of the steering lock. In the future, warranty claims for jammed steering locks will be rejected.

Figure 1:

Figure 2:

1. The steering lock can only be installed with the lock cylinder in position "1" (Figure 2). In position "1", the rectangular recess in the driver (48, Figure 1) is parallel with the steering lock axis, allowing the lock pin (39, arrow) to be pushed in. The electrical ignition/starter switch (S2/1, Figure 1) must be mounted on the steering lock for installation.

Figure 2:

2. If the steering lock is in position "0" (lock pin 39 blocked, lock bolt 39a extended), then the driver (48, Figure 1) must be turned to installation position "1" using a small screwdriver until an audible click indicating engagement can be heard (Figure 2).

Important note! Do not turn the steering lock to position "3" without the ignition/starter switch (S2/1) attached. Doing so will cause the steering lock to irreversibly engage.
