Figure 7 - Shock Absorber:
13. Fasten bracket (29) to shock absorber (28) with hex socket head screw M8 x 14 (30). See repair note and accompanying Table above for correct holealignment. Tighten screw (30) to 20 N-m (Figure 7).
Figure 6 - Second Version Shock Absorber:
14. Connect shock absorber (28) to belt tensioner (1), without tightening screws M8 x 20 (31) at this time (Figure 6).
15. Connect shock absorber (28) with screw M8 x50 (34) and washer (35) to brackets (32 and 33) (Figure 6).
Tighten screws (31 and 34) to 20 N-m (Figure 6).
Figure 8 - Belt Installation Sequence:
16. Starting with the idler pulley (1), install the belt on the pulleys in the sequence numbered (Figure 8).
1 Idler pulley 2 Crankshaft 3 A/C compressor 5 Alternator 7 Power steering pump 8 Water pump
Figure 9 - Graduation Line:
17. Align pointer (825) with the first graduation line. Tighten belt with the tensioning nut (829) until the pointer aligns with the 7th graduation line (arrow). Tighten bolt (827) to 75 to 80 N-m (Figure 9).
18. Install fan and fan shroud. Tighten the fan bolt to 25 N-m.
Figure 10 - Modified Motor Mount:
IMPORTANT: Prior to performing steps 19-22, determine if modified front hydraulic motor mounts (Figure 10, B) have been installed. Install the modified motor mounts only if customer complains about engine shaking.
NOTE: The modified motor mount can be identified by the cover (a), the missing rubber coating on the skirt (b), and the narrower rubber section (c).
If the modified motor mounts are already installed disregard steps 19 thru 22.
Figure 11 - Motor Mount Removal:
19. Remove the air cleaner and the panel under the engine.
20. To remove the motor mounts, unscrew bolts (1 and 9, Figure 11) and lift engine by the front lifting eye.
21. Connect the modified hydraulic motor mounts (B, Figure 10) to the engine supports. Tighten bolt (1) hand tight, making sure to engage the locating lug (arrow) of the motor mount into the notch on the engine support. Install heat shield
(3) on the RH engine support. Lower engine carefully and tighten bolts (1 and 9) (Figure 11).
Tightening torques:
Bolt (1) 50 N-m Bolt (9) 40 N-m
22. Install the air cleaner and the panel under the engine compartment.
