Function description
With the center shifter console, it is possible to adapt the automatic shifting sequence to particular operating conditions via the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) and the automatic transmission transmission mode button (S16/12).
The shift range can in fact be changed in the forward gears during driving mode but the electronic transmission control control unit prevents (N15/3) a shift at unacceptably high engine speeds.
The driver can limit the gear ranges manually in Touch mode (±). For this purpose the selector lever is steered out of position "N" to the rear in the manual shift track and sticks there in a stable center position.
In order to initiate a gear range limitation, the driver presses the selector lever to the right (permissible gear ranges are expanded upwards) or presses it to the left (permissible gear ranges are limited downwards).
A gear range limitation downwards (e.g. only 1st and 2nd, gear range possible) is only accepted while driving if any downshift can take place under the speed limitation.
The transmission mode comfort "C" of the automatic transmission transmission mode button provides a shorter shifting range (shifting at a lower engine speed) and consequently a lower drive torque when starting off in a forwards or reverse direction when compared with the "S" transmission mode.
This enables a gentler start-off as the gears are not driven to the limit.
Using the vehicle dynamics button (N72/1s23) on mode 1207 (with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package) a sporty suspension tuning and transmission mode "S" is selected or a comfortable suspension tuning and transmission mode "C" is selected
