Harsh Engagement Into Reverse With Code Engine
CAUSE/REMEDY:
1. Accumulator switching on (53) was disabled in 6/92 in order to eliminate complaints of delayed engagement into Reverse. Because of this, gear engagement is slightly harder, particularly in conjunction with high cold-start engine speed.
2. As of 9/93 (MY 94), the cold start speed, of engine 120 is reduced slightly through modifications in the electronic accelerator control module (identified by a white dot; earlier versions had a grey dot). Unfortunately the improvement that this has provided is negligible.
3. For models with engines 119 and 120 we recommend reducing the size of bore no. 80 (arrow) in the large intermediate plate from 2.1 mm to 1.9 mm. This provides a considerable improvement.
4. Install LB3 cup-spring with more pronounced taper, part no. 140 993 15 26.
