Wheel Hub: Service and Repair


1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove front wheel(s).
3. Using a suitable puller, remove hub cap.
4. Remove radio interference suppression contact spring, if equipped.
5. Remove brake caliper from steering knuckle and suspend caliper using a suitable piece of wire. Do not disconnect brake lines.
6. Remove brake disc assembly.
7. Remove stub axle shaft clamping nut bolt clamping nut.
8. Using a suitable puller, if necessary, remove front wheel hub.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque caliper attaching bolts to 84 ft. lbs. (115 Nm). On 107 series, torque clamping nut attaching bolt to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). On 123 and 126 series, torque clamping nut attaching bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm). On 201 series, torque clamping nut attaching bolt to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
