As of February 1990 production, a valve cover with modified oil separator (B, Figure 1) is installed. The new version can be recognized by its oval shaped identation at the mounting hole (B, Figure 2).
If engine oil should enter the air filter via the oil separator during high speed turns at high engine rpm, and simultaneously quick deceleration, first check the oil level with the engine oil at 80~C (176~F). If the oil level is above the max. mark on the dip stick due to overfilling, correct the oil level. Only install the modified valve cover, if the oil level is below the maximum mark.
Note: When installing the new version valve cover, make certain that the cast-in part number of the cylinder head front cover reads 104 016 07 06. If not, also replace the front cover.
